What Is Unsounded.com?
UNSOUNDED was originally intended to be an anonymous blog where I could float out the unspoken and probably heretical thoughts that bounce around in my brain from time to time. The idea of UNSOUNDED was that these thoughts would in all liklihood be half-baked, initial impressions, certainly without foundation or sources cited; these would be things I'd never say out loud, nor would I want them to negatively reflect back on my pastoral ministry at Community Church.

I have become increasingly uncomfortable with anonymity. While it is intriguing and even at times appealing, the trend to avoid accountability for what is being said runs rampant over the internet, and I don't view this kind of secrecy as consistent with the biblical emphasis on truth and full disclosure.

I am also becoming aware of the important role of community - a real, personal, face-to-face relational context that provides the best environment for being conceptually understood. Far from anonymity, accountability in community provides both the necessary impetus to be clear and concise in the articulation of my thoughts, and also motivates me to be less flippant and more accurate and grounded. While I am not under the delusion that people will actually read any of this, it may prove a good repository for ideas concerning which I may want to get collaborative feedback, or for ideas I simply want to stash for later.

What appears on these pages may still be ideas-in-progress, as most ideas are, and I still might not ever say any of this outloud, but that's the original idea behind the domain name: unsound (not fully thought through), and unsounded (not spoken outloud).
